EL CONSTRUCTOR INFANTIL (PRIVILEGIADO)

PARTS

Jump to parts list.

Except for the base plates, El Constructor Infantil parts were identical to Mobaco. They used the same numbering, but unlike Mobaco, the numbers were not stamped on the parts.

Base plates were made from plywood, with holes stamped out as can clearly be seen on this photo:

In the series Set No. 1 through 6, each set had a different size base plate.
Specifically:

Caja no. 1 - 3 x 3 holes,
175 x 175 mm, similar to Mobaco base plate no. 201 which measures ± 169 x 169 mm
Caja no. 2 -
4 x 4 holes, 225 x 225 mm, similar to Mobaco base plate no. 202 which measures ± 225 x 225 mm
Caja no. 3 -
5 x 4 holes, 280 x 225 mm
Caja no. 4 -
6 x 4 holes, 335 x 225 mm
Caja no. 5 -
7 x 4 holes, 390 x 225 mm
Caja no. 6 -
8 x 4 holes, 445 x 225 mm, similar to Mobaco base plate no. 203 which measures ± 452 x 226 mm

These are dimensions mentioned in the manual. I was able to measure the base plate of Set no. 2 and it actually measures 219 x 222 mm instead of 225 x 225 mm, a tad smaller. The base plate of Set no. 5 actually measures 385 x 221 mm instead of 390 x 225 mm, also a tad smaller.

Here the 4 x 4 base plate from Set 2 and the 7 x 4 base plate from Set 5 (both shown at 50% at 72dpi):

Columns were made from a different type of wood than Mobaco, with almost no grain. They are absolutely perfect!

The slots were narrower than in Mobaco columns as the panels were thinner.
The tips were neatly cut:

Here a 600dpi scan of a column which shows how fine the grain is:

Cardboard parts were 1.5 mm thick instead of 2,5 mm thick for Mobaco. They don't have the distinctive "sound" of the much heavier and sturdier Mobaco panels.

Initially, the parts were with subdued colors,
more like the first Mobaco sets. There were 4 colors: warm gray for doors and floor elements, pale green for windows and fences, off-white for gable ends and closed wall panels, and muted red for roof panels.

Later, the parts were with bright colors, and there were now 5 colors: tan
for floor elements, bright blue for doors, bright green for windows and fences, bright yellow for gable ends and closed wall panels, and bright red for roof panels. I even found a set with brightly painted columns. Here some images to illustrate the differences:

Below scans of the parts in Set 5. All "visible" elements of a building (walls and roofs) were brightly colored:
